We built our treehouses to be eco-friendly and integrate seamlessly into their surroundings, but that’s not the only way we care for our natural setting. One of the driving goals of Do Artesanato is to protect indigenous species and reclaim land that has been lost to invasive Eucalyptus and pine trees.
The forest in our area is naturally a temperate deciduous forest, rich in biodiversity. You might have a chance to see local and migratory birds like the Eurasian Jay, or catch a glimpse of a porcupine, wild boar, badger, or a fox. In some areas, however, fast-spreading trees like Eucalyptus threaten that biodiversity. As we remove invasive trees, we replace them with indigenous plants like Walnut, Chestnut, and Cork Oak trees, avoiding any negative impact from deforestation. These native forests are even naturally fire-resistant, as the carpet of fallen leaves traps and holds moisture. The many different types of deciduous trees that grow on our rocky hills create a beautiful display of fall colours as wellAutumn is the perfect time to visit to see a thriving deciduous forest in all its glory as the leaves change. The health benefits of time spent enjoying nature have been well-documented, and in our treehouses that feeling of calm can last your whole trip. We offer guided “Forest Bathing” routes for all abilities, or you can strike out on your own and explore. At the end of the day a cosy treehouse and a luxurious jacuzzi will be waiting for you.
